The Other Shore
The Other Shore (彼岸) is a physical theatre work exploring the enduring bond between a brother and sister torn apart by war. When Khan returns from the frontlines to find his home destroyed and his sister Maya gone, grief takes shape in movement. Her absence becomes a presence—an invocation guiding him through memory, rubble, and the ruins of love. As he walks through the wreckage, Khan revisits fragments of their life, confronting loss, guilt, and the impossible weight of survival.
The piece weaves together dance, monologue, and poetic visual composition to explore themes of sacrifice, familial love, and spiritual endurance. Audiences are invited to experience the work not only through story but through sensation—where movement becomes memory, and silence speaks where words fail. The style blends physical language inspired by contact improvisation, contemporary movement, and minimalist scenography, allowing space for reflection and resonance.
